Puerto Princesa Underground River, The Last Frontier

Puerto Princesa Underground River in Palawan, Philippines made it to the official list of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The competition is based on voting results and thus it was confirmed as part of the official list next to Jeju Island in South Korea. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park where the Underground River is located is one of the main tourist spot in the Philippines. It is also an important and protected place because it is considered as one of the last frontier in the Philippine Island. Puerto Princesa Underground River consisted is a very complex cave system that has an amazing karst or limestone landscape. The river flows through the sea and associated with the tidal influence that makes it a considerable natural occurrence. Among the scientific values that can be found in the Puerto Princesa Underground River are mineral, egg shape rock formations, crystals and 20 million year old fossils like the Miocene Serenia. Aside from the natural beauty of Puerto Princesa Underground River, the place also  haven integrated state of conservation that makes it still alive and viewable up to this day which is one the possible reason that it made its way to be included in the official New7Wonders of Nature. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park has a program for conservation which is managed by its city government. The people’s love and dedication in voting of the people for the Puerto Princesa Underground River also made it to become one of the official New7Wonders of Nature.
